One trailblazer in skiing was the frenchman
Patrick Vallencant(RIP) who was one of the pioneers in extreme skiing. I went to his off piste ski school in Chamonix in the early 80´s. He was a very happy and joyful skier with an unreal fluidity and snow adaption. When he increased speed his stance was extremely low. He was as happy as in the picture all the time despite some very bad students(me) with skis stiff as planks (under the snow 98% of the time). I wonder what he could have done with todays skis, I think he skied on dynastar GS skis. In those days there werent any good skis for fast off piste, some people even skied on DH skis to get the footprint required.
Pierre Tardivel is his counterpart today in France I think.
